Hello to everyone, Found this site by accident wow it excellent for all kinds of info and links etc.Been on here nearly 24/7 there is so much to read and as I am trying to put two uniform's together for a convention its BIG help. The last I was at a convention was around 1986 a long time ago and the drifted away from going to conventions, my TWOK uniform no way long fits me anyone a lot of my stuff was handmade insignia and uniform was made of a light weight material but was exactly the same color as the original, was once told by David Jerrold that my insignia was better than there's and did not know they did not make there of light weight material. Back then not many people wore the TWOK uniform. I am trying to put two uniform's together a 1st season wrap around(as seen in the TOS episode TEW) and...
HI Guys POsted this on the 1701st as well, and I went through entire forum looking for specifics...but they are eluding me, off course between the two forums I may be a little crosseyed from researching. :-p
The question is, has someone compiled a grocery list for the materials?
The Rod jacket pattern isn't really clear on amounts, and I dont have the other patterns yet, but want to start shopping for materials, so if someone has a materials list to share....I would really appreciate it so I can determine all my yardage requirements and start getting some fabric.
I sent an e-mail a few week ago to CR Crafts telling them about the velour that Mr. Cawley was selling for Star Trek tunics and asking them if they could obtain (or have made) velour through their sources that was similar in color. They responded that they were going to get "gold" velour in that would be good as "command gold velour." Well, I ordered some and just got it today. It looks almost exactly the same as the Mr. Cawley's offering. They are so so close in color that no one will be able to tell them apart even one on top of the other. They call it "Kirk Gold"! They already have red velour which is the exact same as what I got from Mr. Cawley. I don't know if they have the same blue. click below for the "Kirk Gold"
As much as I love these uniforms, I hope that this is my final creation. After + a yard for fabric, endless swatch-dyeing to get the right shade matched to studio uniform swatches, conversations with James Cawley and my PHASE II associates, rechecking things from my ORIGINAL Robert Fletcher costume guide notes for placement of trim snaps etc.......I am finally happy with the overall look. The only regret was using the lighter red as the back lining piece although the rest is lined in black suit-weight satin lining. I even used my original 80's chain (which I still have some left over for future projects). It is good. Now to complete the pants from elastique and restuff the shirt sections that were previously line quilted with some modifications.
