News, Information, and Commentary on US Mint Products
  • US Mint Numismatic Silver Coin Pricing
Before rebounding today, the market price of silver had experienced a sharp decline from more than per ounce to under per ounce. Given the decline, I thought it would be a good time to revisit how the US Mint changes prices for silver numismatic products and examine the current product prices. Although the [...]
  • Numismatic Gold Coin Prices Reduced
Effective earlier today, the United States Mint has reduced prices for gold numismatic products. This brings prices back to the same levels that were in effect at the very beginning of this year. The weekly average market price of gold based on the London Fix prices from the prior Thursday AM to the current Wednesday [...]
  • 2012 Kennedy Half Dollar Bags and Rolls
Today, May 15, 2012 at 12:00 Noon ET, the United States Mint will begin sales of the 2012 Kennedy Half Dollars in bags and rolls. Since 2002, this denomination has not been produced for general circulation, but only distributed by the US Mint within various numismatic products. The Mint will offer a 200-coin bag, containing [...]
  • 2012 Native American Dollar 100-Coin Bags
Today, May 14, 2012 at 12:00 Noon ET, the United States Mint will begin sales of 100-coin bags of 2012 Native American Dollars. This will simply represent a different ordering option, as circulating quality coins in 25-coin rolls, 250-coin boxes, and 500-coin boxes previously went on sale April 26, 2012. The reverse design for this [...]
  • How the US Mint Determines Price Changes for Gold and Platinum Numismatic Products
In early 2009, the United States Mint adopted a pricing policy for certain gold and platinum numismatic products which allows product prices to be updated as often as weekly in response to changes in precious metals prices. The method for determining price changes is not exactly straight forward and there are frequently questions about it, [...]

  • The End of “Unprecedented Demand”?
After years of struggle, the United States Mint seems to have finally completely caught up and adjusted to the heightened levels of demand for gold and silver coins. Unfortunately, this seems to occurred at just the time when demand has started to decline. The financial crisis in 2008 brought renewed interest in precious metals as [...]

I was also approached by charles miller with the same message in bad English for 2 of my high valued coins. I did not know this was a scam at first but it seemed weird that he kept insisting on sending his private shipping company to pick up the coin even when I told him that I did not have the coin in possession at the present moment. I did not reply back to him after couple of e-mail exchanges and a day later, I got similar type of e-mail from Evelyn Crush ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) and this time, he(or she) actually completed a transaction by completing the purchase option on the CoinBug website. This person's home address is listed as some place in NY (Mattydale, NY 13243 ) but I think it is made up address.

I've been scammed once on eBay so once is enough. I would like to also warn all CoinBug members. If something doesn't sound right or something sounds too good to be true, be really careful. What kind of collector would immediately commit to purchase ,500 coin without asking a single question about the coin.

    to all sellers:
Yestday I got an email from a This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it (also This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) for 2 of my posted items with offer to purchase. His English is bad and wants the usual "a shipping company will come by to pick up the items and leave you a check to which you deduct the amount and for your good honesty and give them the rest".
Most of these scam artists have UK addresses. Beware.

Everyone here has most likely heard of Numis Network. I joined last week and was collecting just silver bullion at the time but now collect all MS70 coins. The values are mindblowing and didn't realize how much appreciation happens with the highest qulaity coins. I am new at this and would love some feedback

I purchased a 1972 Memorial penney that has highly visible doubling of "In God We Trust", but not on the date. Is this a counterfeit or a variation and does it carry any value?

I say your collection is complete. I would like to know what book you have that does not have a spot for this coin. I want to buy one.

    Regards,
    Richard
